Cabin Fever

by Zia Luehrman

Drone and moan of modulated
couch confinement
Long stretch of indefinite bubble gum strand pulled from between clenched teeth
Half tone sunlight trampling the matted grass
Electrostatic hair
and
flaking skin on the glass tabletop

pickled indoor stasis.

In the vinegary evening,
shadows scarcely float
Who knows what secrets
have ground themselves grey
into the carpet?
